I found this an engrossing read from start to finish, hence the five stars. It could have been an outstanding book if the quality of the black and white illustrations and been improved and the text supplemented, here and there, with helpful diagrams. Nevertheless, living on the shores of a Scottish sea loch, I thoroughly enjoyed the read which fascinated, and informed, throughout.

Just didnt enjoy htis at all. Not what I was expecting, not an account of how tides work, why they do the things they do. More a ramble about how fascinating it all is, watching the tides come and go in different parts of the world. Not my cup of tea at all, I'm sure many people will like it, but not really a scientific explanation of why tides do what they do and I found the description of the book, which is how I decided to buy it, a little misleading as to its actual content.

This book was a gift for my husband and he really enjoyed it. He has almost finished it now but says that it's the sort of book you can return to time and time again.

The book is slow to start and doesn't really begin to explain tides and the newest research 'til about half way through. It's pleasant but it wanders a bit more than I expected. A good read though.

I was curious about tides in different geographical location and had the differences explained. An interesting read.
